MISSION

Omele

The objective is to aid the reclamation, elaboration and revitalization of Yoruba culture as a means to creating an enduring cultural and social stability for Yoruba people and the country we presently find ourselves. The goal is to ultimately incorporate other ethnicities –with their own wings into what we believe will be objective principles to live by, grounded on the nature of man. However, it is important that we demonstrate what the principles should be before proselytization.

“Bí a se bí erú sá la bí omo”

A slave was born the way the child of a lord was born

Yoruba proverb

Pointers to principles grounded on the universality of human nature have been with us since antiquity, but most have been lost or rather ignored. It implies there is a universal human nature: pain, pleasure, love, hate, feeling of revenge, desire for dignity and respect. Our goal is to look through our history, elaborate and stimulate what we are, who we are into who we should be to aid the cultural stability, political stability and ultimately the prosperity of Yoruba people and others in our environment.

We aim not to take the wheel of our nation, but the world can indeed benefit from a maximally beneficial Yoruba culture.

At any stage of the execution of this would we sit back; we aim to steer the ship, stand at its helm towards success.

The first step is the restoration of eroding dignity, the reorientation of the “self”, the examination of individuality and lifting up of those we have left behind.

i) The privatization of the Welfare state

ii) Cataloging of Yoruba oral history into classics (Poetry, History, Metaphysics, Proverbs, Ethics and Morality)

iii) Adding Yoruba musical instruments into the music curriculums.
